[fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 325px;]"Hey! Hello!"

The gangly elk stopped in her tracks, flicking an ear and looking about for anyone on the way to the border. She was pretty hungry, but grass was literally everywhere so her need to eat did not place food higher than 'join a new group'. Besides, grass was boring, boo grass, hello people! The tall elk shook her head, twisted antlers lifting gracefully behind her.
Hey, she wasn't just any elk, she could have antlers just like others. Of course she could, just like others in her family, the halla.

"Anyone there? If you try to eat me before I join, I'll shank ya!"
She flicked her ears forwards, white fur standing out against the background of the scenery visible from the border of clan.

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 250px; overflow: auto; height: 325px;]"Mine? Yours? This place's? I'll assumed you mean mine."
Now Minaiben could probably have been a little more polite, but as the elk lowered her head just enough to address the stranger, she couldn't help but be a little bit sarcastic. She tended to be have quite the mouth on her (goodness had her clan despised her inability to tell appropriate times for her humour) so it should have come as no surprise that vague, blunt question elicited a comment.

"Minaiben Lavellan, though I don't expect anyone to remember that monstrosity."
Pronounced Min-ay-bin, she figured that it wouldn't be long until she had a few nicknames to answer to. As long as it wasn't something dumb like 'Horns' or 'Rudolph'.
She was not a caribou.

"Hey, that's one way to float a cat."
Or was it one way to skin a cat? Float your boat? Eh, probably both. The halla paused next to the edge of the water, right ear flicking habitually as she looked out to see the dragon floating. There was a massive urge to do one of two things: fight the dragon, or use the dragon as a boat. Seeing as he was probably a clanmate, Minaiben shooshed the first desire. The second one, however, was still a possibility.
Maybe she'd ask first.

"You offering rides? Or it is a bring your own boat sort of event?"

The hoofed creature inquiring, tilting her head and feeling the familiar weird of her antlers tip along with the orientation of her face.

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;]Thud.
"There is so much wrong with this picture."
The rather irked tone of the elk followed the sound of something scraping against a doorframe - that something would be her antlers, which even in their twisted, almost decorative existence managed to cause issues when Minaiben attempted to do regular things. Like walk through doorways.
Doors were, evidently, not her friends.

The hoofed woman was stuck, wedged between the too small sides of the doorway. Her explorative nature and need to find a place to stay had inspired this stupid situation, which was causing quite a bit of commotion in Minaiben's day. She huffed, trying to twist her head but only getting her antlers dug deeper into the wood surrounding her ornate headpiece.
"This! This is why other people don't have antlers, because you forget how big and tedious they are."

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;]Okay, so Minaiben's first assumption was demons.
Because of course demons, they were scary buggers that possessed those susceptible to it - especially those who dabbled with telepathy and magic and the like. While the ebony elk preferred to not jump to conclusions about other people's appearances, she did have a knack for auras (not that she had a word for this, beyond intuition) and motivations though, and she didn't like this guy. Even if she couldn't see his aura (which was up to the other's roleplayer) she didn't like him.
So what did you do when you saw a probably-demon?
Annoy the everloving shit out of it.
"I have a question for you!"

Came the not-so-delicate voice belonging to the dextrous elk, prancing over and tilting her head downwards and understanding the way her antlers flick towards the potential enemy.
"Can you see anything out of the death in your eyes, or is it a sort of useless bonus to your - totally spooky by the way - appearance?"

[/fancypost]
[fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: 290px; width: 160px; background:url(http://i.imgur.com/cQSe2C4.png);][/fancypost]minaiben lavellen + single lady

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;]Man, Minaiben wasn't even planning a meet and greet. She thought she'd just show up, chill out, toss her head around to scare off anyone that might otherwise have an interest in eating her. Paranoia was pretty safe for someone who lived as basically a mutated elk - okay, as a mutated elk. Prey, cattle to some.
Food.

Anyways, not the point - the white elk pranced up with a cheeky grin, happy enough to join in the meet and greet held by one of the people she'd met on the border.
"Hey! Gonna be honest, I've felt the tree climbing urge a time or twelve, but apparently my kind of people are not tree people."
No, halla should not climb trees. She learned this the hard way.

"We've met 'fore, I'm Minaiben. Once again, feel free to nickname because that's just half my name and it already sounds too formal. My favourite colour is probably some form of blue and I spent too much time trying to find hobbies to have a hobby."

Looking for hobbies could be a hobby, right? Right. It made sense.

[/fancypost]
[fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: 290px; width: 160px; background:url(http://i.imgur.com/cQSe2C4.png);][/fancypost]minaiben lavellen + single lady

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;]Okay, plenty of faces now to get to know. First off, Dezeray. that name should be easy enough to remember, but the actual connection of face-to-name and name-to-face was another matter entirely, and Minaiben wasn't entirely sure she would get the association right away.
"Dez is easy, much shorter. Rolls off the tongue y'know, makes you think less of a really old tree."

Ugh, trees. There were too many stories about trees, Minaiben just wanted to climb them. Too bad it was near impossible when you had hooves. Except for goats, but those were just demon-folk in disguise.
Ooh, this guy had really cool eyes. The almost mono-shade of the halla's gaze found itself on Sebastien, noting the way he pronounced his own name and trying to emulate it as she repeated it back. There were a bunch of languages unlike the one she grew up with, and it would be an adventure to try a few of them out.
"Sebastien - chill name, I like it. You look kind of bummed out though, you should eat some berries. I dunno why, something I was told to do once."

There had been some reason behind it, but the elk hadn't been paying attention. Her brother was the attentive one, not her. There was one more person piping up to say hello, and the great antlers atop her head tilted as she looked upon the wagging form. Hey, she was a female hoofed creature with antlers; she got unwanted body parts and their functions.
"Ma serennas - thanks and all that formal stuff."

[/fancypost]
[fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: 290px; width: 160px; background:url(http://i.imgur.com/cQSe2C4.png);][/fancypost]minaiben lavellen + single lady

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;]Okay, maybe Minaiben had been conveniently ignoring some of her clanmate's more carnivorous tendencies. Honestly, eating meat of any sort made her uncomfortable, kind of like... no, the best analogy would be eating meat next to an herbivore and that wasn't an analogy that was exactly what this was.

So no, it never occurred to the white elk that cannibalism was also a thing, because meat eaters ate meat, and that was as specific as Minaiben got about the whole affair. Still, swallowing her disgust at the bones (teeth marks and all) and just managing to get words out that weren't tainted by horror.
Just glimpses of nerves uncharacteristic to the halla.
"Well, I mean, it's not what I'd choose to eat. Ever think about grass? Tastes as good as it sounds, which is to say not at all but..."

What was she doing here? Oh, right! Minaiben cleared her throat, trying to keep her head straight even as her ears twitched forwards.
"So what're you planning on doing with the not-edible bits, if you don't mind my asking?"

[/fancypost]
[fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: 290px; width: 160px; background:url(http://i.imgur.com/cQSe2C4.png);][/fancypost]minaiben lavellen + single lady

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;]"Hey there kid, Sebastien."
The elk dipped her head almost imperceptibly to the two in question, not wanting to heave her antlers around lest her neck get sore again. Seemed the kid looked almost nervous, a little out of place. Hey, Minaiben wasn't going to bug the stranger about that, since she was pretty chill about things in general. The white creature grinned, and inquired curiously.
"You visiting, da'len? Or are you here on business? You're kind of little to be travelling places on your own, you're so small I could accidentally step on your or somethin'!"

[/fancypost]
[fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: 290px; width: 160px; background:url(http://i.imgur.com/cQSe2C4.png);][/fancypost]minaiben lavellen + single lady

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;]Oh, she remembered this guy - he'd been there when she had joined. With a grin, the elk pranced over, lifting her feet as she did so as though trying to be all fancy and stuff. In truth, there was a burr stuck to the back of her leg and if she leaned down to itch it she might accidentally gouge out someone's eye with her antlers.
"Hey Eric! Tell me, how do you get stuff off of the places you can't reach on your own body? Or do you just leave them until they go away?"

Well, it wasn't a regular question for a meet and greet, but it wasn't as though Minaiben had anything better to ask. 'How are you' and 'what are you doing' were boring - obviously he was alive and holding a meet and greet. Sheesh.

[/fancypost]
[fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: 290px; width: 160px; background:url(http://i.imgur.com/cQSe2C4.png);][/fancypost]minaiben lavellen + single lady

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;]"Ooh, fish. Oh. It's going to be eaten, hm?"
Now, the elk was pretty quiet when she moved. Not silent, not in the slightest, but rather quiet for a prey-based animal who was cursed with hooves. If you relied on nimbleness, agility, silence was your friend. Of course, Minaiben stopped to regard the jaguar, appreciating how she moved with such command of her limbs - she was more than pretty, she was graceful and moved as though she understood how every part of her body worked.

Minaiben felt a pang of jealousy, and spoke again, trying to focus on the curiosity of the situation, the appeal of talking to someone she didn't know, getting to know this stranger and her fishing ways.
"Never understood fish, do you get rid of the scales or just... nom? Sorry, I'm being rude - how you doing?"

[/fancypost]
[fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: 290px; width: 160px; background:url(http://i.imgur.com/cQSe2C4.png);][/fancypost]minaiben lavellen + single lady

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;]The elk liked to think that her worry about being eaten by her clanmates was an unfounded one but when you saw what was already being eaten, it didn't help to see a few hoofed creatures among them. Minaiben kept her smile up though, trusting others enough to know that she'd be alright.
Or she'd shank them.
With her antlers.
"So how's the whole 'hunt, catch, eat' thing goin'?"

Asked the white lady, brown eyes having seen the rat escape and the wolf go back to what she assumed hunting looked like. Hey, herbivore life rocked, when you bothered to eat the bland as frick grass that grew everywhere.

[/fancypost]
[fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: 290px; width: 160px; background:url(http://i.imgur.com/cQSe2C4.png);][/fancypost]minaiben lavellen + single lady

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;]"Hey, yeah - you're welcome to stay da'len. We're chill here, so no need to be nervous."

The grin on the elk only grew as the kid admitted they wanted to stay, and Minaiben was kind of excited to think of someone new coming to stay with them. The herbivore leaned down just a little bit, careful to keep her antlers above her head and not pointed forwards (wouldn't want to hit the kid by accident) as she sent a little wink in the child's direction. No need indeed for nerves, not in her opinion.
then again, she was chill enough to hang out with carnivores day in and day out.

[/fancypost]
[fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: 290px; width: 160px; background:url(http://i.imgur.com/cQSe2C4.png);][/fancypost]minaiben lavellen + single lady

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;]"Well, wish I could help you out man, but unless you want pointers on where to find taller grass, I can't help you."

The former Lavellan responded, grinning a bit despite herself. She couldn't help it, really - it wasn't funny that her clanmate was hungry but it was a little weird for her to be around a hungry wolf without feeling like she had to run in the opposite direction (or at least drop her head and charge). A hum escaped her, thoughts not contributing any solutions to the food problem.
"Maybe if you had more people? I thought wolves moved in packs, hunted in 'em."

[/fancypost]
[fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: 290px; width: 160px; background:url(http://i.imgur.com/cQSe2C4.png);][/fancypost]minaiben lavellen + single lady

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;]"Oh hey! Hey, now that is some bullshit, yeah?"
With a snort, the elk tossed about her head, antlers cutting through the air in a swift concise motion, known to those who understand body language as a sign of anger. She didn't know this chick too well but she was a clanmate and capturing a clanmate was an affront. Besides, this had an underlying tone of adventure that brought Minaiben to the forefront of the situation.
She did have another proclamation though, a throwback to her family.
"Ma emma harel."
She grumbled, tossing her head once more and enjoying the way her neck cracked as thought preparing, loosening up.

"So, who'm I fighting?"

Hey, her sense of smell was not very attuned. She wasn't here for tracking, she was here for... well, eating grass.
AND ADVENTURE.
Mostly grass.

[/fancypost]
[fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: 290px; width: 160px; background:url(http://i.imgur.com/cQSe2C4.png);][/fancypost]minaiben lavellen + single lady

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;]"What's happening?"
The elk pranced up to the others, grin on her face that seemed to be a permanent fixture when she was meeting with clanmates. Okay, well, she didn't know Perma and Agony, but she could introduce herself with a slight shake of her head, the fur loose about her head and her brown eyes fixed on the others.
"I'm Minaiben if you don't know me yet, can't say I remember introducing myself but then again I hit my head often enough that I might have and then forgotten soon after."

But hey, there was plenty to do and if she held herself back just because she 'shouldn't climb trees' because 'elk don't have claws' then she wouldn't be living, Creators be damned!

[/fancypost]
[fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: 290px; width: 160px; background:url(http://i.imgur.com/cQSe2C4.png);][/fancypost]minaiben lavellen + single lady

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;]"A'ight well, I'ma go then and let you predator-types get yourselves acquainted with nature. Try not to murder any of my immediate family if you happen across any halla!"

With a slight toss of her elongated fur, the elk turned tail. Not that watching predators... predator-ate wasn't fun, but she had about twelve hundred reasons to stay away from things with teeth and claw and insatiable hunger. When they got into a hunt, some of them got a little... carried away, the elk wanted to say. It wasn't so much that she didn't trust them, but it was more along the lines of mother nature intended for you to eat me and by the creators I am not taking that chance.

"Farewell, clawed friends o'mine and happy hunts!"

Hey, halla were supposed to be good luck, maybe her well wishes would have some bearing on what was happening.

[/fancypost]
[fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: 290px; width: 160px; background:url(http://i.imgur.com/cQSe2C4.png);][/fancypost]minaiben lavellen + single lady

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;]"Hey kid, whatever floats your cat. Skins your boat? Floats your... ah, you know what I mean."

The elk prodded over, shrugging nonchalantly as her inability to use common phrases caught up with her. Didn't think it mattered much for her to understand and use anecdotes as though they were a staple. So for the purposes of this situation, Minaiben figured she'd just hang around until the family got here, make sure they actually showed up to say hello to the child.
Marvelpaw, she noted.
"I'm Minaiben, if y'need anything."

[/fancypost]
[fancypost borderwidth=0px; height: 290px; width: 160px; background:url(http://i.imgur.com/cQSe2C4.png);][/fancypost]minaiben lavellen + single lady

[fancypost borderwidth=0px; bgcolor=; width: 350px; overflow: auto; height: 300px;]Ew, illness. Minaiben wasn't a 'deal and heal' sort of elk - that was more her brother's thing, if anything. He was the intellectual, she was the 'hey, I know, let's try to summon a demon and see what happens' kind of chick. So, glancing at the ill feline, the only response Minaiben had was a shake of her head and a slight lean down, careful to not point her antlers forwards.
"Yo, da'len - you alright? You smell like... well, gross stuff. Anyone I can get for ya?"

They had healer here, yeah? Unless the kid here was the only healer around, and in that case the child could just give instructions.

[/fancypost]
